Dogs Rescue and local vets are warning residents to be alert to symptoms indicating their pets have been stung by the processionary caterpillar.
This week vets have already treated one case after the dog was walked in the Parque de la U.
Symptoms are severe inflammation of the tongue, stinging or irritated eyes, mouth and extremities and vomiting.
If your pet has any of these symptoms it is vital to seek immediate medical assistance.
