Calasparra Town Hall has called a five minute demonstration in the Plaza de la Corredera at 12 midday on Wednesday, to support local agriculture and to coincide with a mass demonstration in Madrid.
The aim of the demo is to give local residents and employees of Calasparra the opportunity to show their support for local farmers and smallholders who will be marching on the same day in the capital.
The Mayor of Calasparra, Jose Velez, has already pledged his support for the demonstration, which he will be attending in Madrid.
The members of the Farmers and Smallholders Association of the Tajo-Segura Water Transfer advise that some 600 people have already signed up to go to Madrid to protest against the shortage of irrigation water.
