About 60 walkers discovered a little known corner of the municipal area last Sunday as part of the Step by Step organised routes programme.
The walk, which was mainly over flat land, took in the site of the ancient Baños de Gilico a Calasparra and went onto visit the houses where the mine workers lived and the ruins of the school.
The walkers returned to Calasparra by the Pértigas area, through the fields of Almonds and an area licensed for hunting with greyhounds and onto the Arreturas, the Eras and the Mula road.
The next date on the walking calendar is this Sunday, November 11. Entitled the “Copper Fountain” the route starts from the Plaza de la Corredera at 9am.
