The Director General of Traffic has announced a crack down on drivers who drink or take drugs and drive in the Murcia region which starts today and continues until July 15.
The object of the exerc ise is to raise awareness of the high risks associated with driving and consuming these substances.
Last week Traffic Police doubled the fines for driving over the alcohol limit from 500 to 1,000 euros as a preliminary measure. The offence carries between 4 to 6 points on the driver´s licence.
