The Mayor of Calasparra, Jesus Navarro, will call a meeeting next week for farmers and small holders interested in growing broccoli for a cooperative from Totano.
The cooperative, Totana Agrorizao S.L, is appealing to agricultural landowners who own land suitable for growing broccoli and water melon for next season to come forward.
Apparently the cooperative is seeking to cut costs by growing produce locally. The produce will be processed by the cooperative, La Honondera.
According to the Mayor this is an excellent opportunity to put local agricultural land into production and create employment in the food processing sector.
