The Murcia region is bracing for a mass of polar air which will cause temperatures to plummet by some 10 degrees and may bring light frosts and snow on high ground.
The change in weather is expected to start on Sunday afternoon and may well continue through the rest of February.
Minimums are expected to fall to five degrees on Tuesday and three degrees on Wednesday and there will be cold winds bringing a wind chill factor to the equation early in the week.
The Met Office warns of possible showers, which may turn to snow on high ground, and light to moderate frosts.
