A 54 year old man has been detained by the Guardia Civil as officers dismantle an active point of cocaine distribution in a house in Calasparra.
A kilo of cocaine, more than 60,000 euros, equipment for production and distribution of cocaine and a pistol were found at the house which was heavily fortified.
This was a joint operation, Operation Tarica, which aims to prevent and pursue drug traffickers and which has resulted in a resident of Calasparra being detained and held in prison pending trial.
The Calasparrian arrested has previous convictions, a history of producing and distributing drugs and of the illegal possesion of firearms.
The investigation began in October when the Guardia Civil suspected a point of drug distribution in a house in an area of known drug addicts.
Eventually the house, which had an armoured front door and video security in the interior, was searched and the suspect found and arrested.
The officers also found 816 grams of cocaine, 63,000 euros in a safe, a holster in a wardrobe used to carry arms and a pistol.
The Guardia Civil believe the man detained used the weapon as a means of self-defence and to safeguard the drugs outside his home.
The arrested man, the drugs, the money and the gun were all put at the disposition of magistrates in Caravaca who remanded the man in custody.
