The regional Covid-19 Tracing Committee has just released new figures which show 438 new cases of the virus in the last 24 hours: 117 more than the day before.
According to the Committee: “We are beginning to note the consequences of the celebrations on Christmas Eve.”
Sadly five people have died over the same period bringing the total number of fatalities from the virus regionally to 741.
There were 20 new hospital admissions and there are currently 75 Covid-19 patients in intensive care.
