The Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, has corrected his announcement that children under 14 years can go shopping or to the bank after being it was widely criticized as a dangerous move.
The Minister had announced that children under 14 would be allowed to accompany an adult on authorized outings such as to the supermarket, chemist or the bank. However, the announcement was greeted by an uproar of criticism on social media and on television .
Many news programmes on Spanish television featured health experts claiming the move was dangerous and ill thought out.
Now the Minister has rectified the announcement and says children under 14 years will be allowed to go out for a walk from this weekend under strict rules, to be announced later.
