The new ITV vehicle tests (MOT) come into effect from today, Tuesday, and include measures to detect manipulations and frauds, and test security systems and emissions.
As previously reported on this webpage the changes include:
Emissions under the magnifying glass
New times have brought a new awareness of environmental issues and technologies capable of imitation. The new ITV includes to0ols to detect these type of frauds.
More intense analysis
More than ever electronic components play a key role in the security of vehicles. For this reason, the ITV uses new software for electronic diagnostics, which check security systems in modern vehicles: including ABS, airbags, lights, signaling and seatbelts.
More flexibility
The date of the ITV may be brought forward by a month without affecting the duration of the certificate.
Also, if a vehicle fails an ITV it can be taken to another ITV station within the national territory, within a month, and without any extra cost.
Permitting other European ITVs
An ITV (MOT) carried out in any other country within the European community will be recognised in Spain in order to facilitate cars being brought over from abroad.
