A Calasparrian woman, aged 75, died after the car she was travelling in collided with a lorry on the Caravaca Road, just a few miles from Calasparra.
A man, aged 81, was injured in the accident and taken to hospital with bruising.
The emergency services received various calls reporting that two people were trapped in their car following the collision.
The cause of the accident is still unknown.
