Olympic canoeist, and member of the Calasparra Municipal Canoe Club, Juan Martinez, was only a second behind the winner in the 1st Spanish Slalom Cup last weekend in the Basque country in the K-1 Seniors Under 23´s.
Despite starting his university studies at UCAM and in the face of financial problems Juan still managed a brilliant second place in the national championships at La Seu D`urgell.
The local canoe club has decided to start a campaign to raise funds and are seeking a sponsor to safeguard the future of the club and Juan´s career.
