Yesterday afternoon torrential rain, electric storms, hail and thunderbolts hit the North East of Murcia and here in Calasparra seven litres per square metre fell in less than 10 minutes.
The dire predictions of the Met Office proved true yesterday afternoon as hailstones broke car windscreens, thunderbolts tore through the sky and 12 litres of rain fell per square metre in Calasparra.
The Calasparra area was one of the areas worse affected by the inclement weather.
In Jumilla a violent hailstorm damaged vehicles and the cost to local agriculture, particularly cherry, grape, almond and apricots, remains to be counted as hailstone as big as ping pong balls were reported.
The Met Office predicts today will be fairly calm with occasional showers.
