CALASPARRA CELEBRATES WORLD CUP VICTORY

The Cupula square in central Calasparra was packed to the seams to witness the national women´s football team beat England to become World Cup Champions.
Calasparra Town Hall, Quesos Tío Resti and the local football club, GH Seguridad Ciudad de Calasparra, organized a giant screen in the Plaza Emilio Pérez Piñero where more than 400 people, including a few with the Union Jack, gathered to witness the most important event in the history of women´s football.
After a hard fought match in the Olympic Stadium in Sydney the national team beat England 1 -0.  An early goal by Olga Carmona decided the match although both teams created goal opportunities and it was  a heart stopper up to the final moment.
Calasparra was one of many towns in Spain to intall a giant screen so their residents could live this epic match together.
