Calasparra has united with Cieza to propose a law against fracking in the Regional Assembly and joins three other municipal areas in its stand against the extraction of gas by hydraulic fracturing.
The Mayor of Calasparra joined the Mayors of Cieza, Hellin and Jumilla when they signed an “institutional declaration” to fight together against fracking.
The motion, proposed by Calasparra and Cieza, at the Regional Assembly asks the regional government to impede fracking because it is “so prejudicial” for the environment and public health”.
Both Cieza and Calasparra have been declared a “fracking free zone” by their Full Town Hall Council meetings.
