Today, March 8, is International Women ´s Day and the 60th anniversary of this special day for women all over the world.
Regretably there are still many women in the world rendered invisible by the cultures they live under and/or do not have access to the basic rights we all enjoy in Europe. The fight continues!!!
However, in Calasparra we clebrate the rights we do have and the struggle against prejudice and discrimination many women still face in the work place and at home.
It is with heavy hearts we digest terrible news that another woman in Spain has died at the hands of her partner in the final scene of domestic violence on this day of Women´s Rights. Our hearts go out to her family and friends. Unfortunatley the scourge of domestic violence lives on in our society that, so often, fails to speak out until it is too late.
On a happier note Nexonr would like to send best wishes to all our women readers on this special day and encourage participation in the events organised by Calasparra Town Hall. (See previous post on Nexonr).
