People over 55 years old in Spain will not receive the AstraZeneca/Oxford University vaccination due to doubts over its efficacy.
According to the National System of Heath here in Spain there were inadequate trials carried out by AstraZeneca on volunteers over 55 years old, casting doubts on its effectiveness on older people.
The over 55´´s in Spain will receive the Pfizer and Moderna vaccinations and people aged between 18 and 55 years old will receive the AstraZeneca.
The majority of EU countries have recommended that the cut off age for AstraZeneca should be 65 years old.
