The Brotherhood of the patron saints of Calasparra, St Abdon and Sene, has appealed for residents to wear traditional dress for the procession and “keep alive the traditions of the fiestas.”
The Harvest Festival Procession on Saturday July 23 is an intrinsic part of these local fiestas, given that St Abdon and Senen are patrons of the harvest. It starts at the Rice Growers’ Fountain at 8pm and passes through the centre of town ending at the Saints Church.
Once at the church there will be a harvest festival mass when local people bring gifts of flowers.
The sight of the church, full of flowers, is one of the prettiest parts of the fiestas.
