The airline Jet2 is advertising flights from the new airport at Corvera to Manchester and Leeds-Bradford for spring/summer 2019.
JET2 is the first company to advertise flights from the airport, which is due to open in January 2019.
After so many false starts it is easy to understand why other companies and passengers are skeptical about the new opening date. However, all the judicial procedures are finished and a new company and director are now in charge at Corvera.
AENA, the concessionary society at the new airport, has spent months working on the transfer of flights from San Javier.
Companies, such as Jet2, are expected to stop operating from San Javier next month, October, and internal national flights are also expected to disappear.
However, Ryanair, which has made a major commitment to San Javier over the past few years and is almost solely responsible for the airport´s increase in passengers, has not made any declaration concerning the new airport.
