Calasparra Municipal Services has agreed to provide a skip for the garden waste of residents of Tierra Del Sol but will also impose fines for dumping and or the misuse of other rubbish containers.
As the dumping of garden waste has increased on the urbanization, with mounds of cuttings etc on wasteland around the urbanization and on the ground around and inside the communal rubbish bins, the Town Hall has instructed the local police to impose fines of up to 900 euros.
Today, Monday, a special skip has been provided by the local authority for garden waste, cuttings and prunings. But the skip comes with a warning: “If you abuse the skip it will be withdrawn.”
A spokesperson for Municipal Services told Nexonr a skip had been provided for garden waste before at the request of residents. “But they dumped all sorts in the skip so we withdrew the service,” he said, “and we will do it again.”
He asked Nexonr to remind residents that the incorrect disposal of garden waste etc in the bins provided for domestic waste is illegal and may result in a fine.
It is also illegal to dump garden waste on any part of the urbanization or surrounding areas.
Municipal Services will be erecting signs in English and Spanish on wasteland around the urbanization and on the site of the new skip warning residents of the penalties for incorrect disposal or dumping of waste: fines of up to 900 euros.
Residents are also required to advise any gardeners or other workers employed to prune, cut or clear their gardens of the restrictions and penalties for the contravention of these norms and of the penalties.
With this article are photos of containers for domestic rubbish containing garden waste. There were also piles of garden waste which had been dumped by the bins and at various points surrounding the urbanization.
Residents are advised to use the new facility for garden waste only and to correctly dispose of their domestic rubbish in the bins provided. Larger items, builders´ rubbish, items for recycling (computers, electrical items, furniture, chemical products such as paint etc.) should be taken to the Ecoparque at the side of the Chapel of Rest (Tanatoria).
