The four leaders in the XI Memorial Antonio de Béjar Half Mountain Marathon organised by the Club Alpino crossed the winning line hand in hand to underline the non competitiveness of the event in a display of sportsmanship.
The soft rain on the day was a relief for the 160 runners, including 35 local entrants, who ran the gruelling course cross the Molino, the Cabezo de los Garitos and back to Calasparra.
The local entry was the largest in the history of the event.
Lucas Postigo of Filippedes Moratalla, Francisco José Hernández of CAMoratalla Filippedes, Antonio Sánchez of Club Marathon Cartagena, Nino García of 100% All Sport and José Antonio Agüera del CD Runtriton finished in first place in a time of 1.25.00.
First over the line in the women´s race was Chary Martínez with a time of 1:52:04.
