The people of Calasparra showed their solidarity by forming a massive pink bow to mark the World Day Against Cancer today in the Plaza de la Corredera.
During their lives one in every three men and one in every four women are diagnosed with cancer and 40% of those cancers are avoidable.
Doctor Odile Fernández told Radio Calasparra listeners “It isn´t enough to make changes for a short time, what we have to do is change the way we live our lives.”
She recommends avoiding processed foods, cigarettes and cigars, alcohol and sweet drinks. “Opt for “green” products that have not been processed,” she added.
The Spanish Association Against Cancer will hold its annual dinner on February 27 at 9pm in La Daya Salones.
Tickets cost 31€ and are on sale in various shops and bars in Calasparra.
