The backbone of a participative democracy in Calasparra is the involvement of the residents in the management and government of the town, Ricardo Garcia, the Head of Citizen Particpation at the Town Hall, told a press conference this week.
He announced that the regulation which permits the participation of residents in the government of Calasparra had been approved and had been published in the official local government bulletin, BORM, for a period of public consultation.
The full text of the regulation is available, in Spanish, in the “Portal de Transpariencia” on the municipal webpage www.calasparra.org.
Ricardo Garcia explained that the regulation´s aim was the maximum participation of residents in the business of the locality in order to increase the efficiency of municipal management. For this reason the document includes creating tools such as the Consumer Advice Centre, which already exists, as well establishing the right to public consultation or referundum.
“This is a dynamic process in which the participation of residents is essential,” he said.
One of the first steps towards this goal is the creation of a register of local associations.
“It is urgent that groups are formed and registered. They can download the form through the “Sede eletronica” on the municipal webpage, complete it and return it to the Consumer Office,” he added.
