Some twenty boats and rafts will start off the XXXI Descent of the Almadenes Canyon from the Iron Bridge, on the Mula Road, Calasparra at 10.30am on Saturday.
The first phase of the descent is from the Iron Bridge to the Mulata dam and then in the afternoon the Almadenes Canyon, 3.30pm to 5.30pm. It finishes on Sunday from the wier at the Almadenes Canyon to Cieza.
This is the only white water rafting event of its kind in the region and usually presents quite a spectacle.
The teams taking part come from different parts of Spain including Alicante, Albacete, Valencia and Madrid.
There is a special public viewing area being prepared at the Almadenes canyon and there will be a Grand Fiesta with a gigantic paella to coincide with the arrival of the boats at 1pm.
