Today is the day of Juan Pelotero and the Innocents (similar to our April Fool´s Day)and as part of the street theatre this traditional character made various stops around the streets of Calasparra to tell stories to anyone willing to listen.
In our photograph he has gathered a small crowd of listeners in the Cupola Square.
This year the Town Hall held a competition to find the best Juan Pelotero street theatre.
Part of the local tradition is that he «holds up» passers by offering a «thump with his club» or a donation to charity.
