The marble quarry, on the Calasparra – Caravaca road, has claimed the life of a worker from Cieza who he was struck on the head by a 3,000 kilo stone.
Mariano Navarro Abenza, aged 49 años, father of two, was killed instantly by the impact at the quarry owned by the San Marino Group of Cehegin.
An ambulance was called but the victim was certified dead at the scene.
An investigation into the accident has been opened to clarify how the stone fell and the circumstances of the accident.
