The Emergency Military Services (UME) are camping out in the Recinta Ferial and carrying out manouvres on the Sierra del Molino and surrounding areas.
Readers could be forgiven for thinking the heavy military presence in Calasparra was for some sinister reason but no, it is just the UME rehearsing their response to various emergency scenarios.
UME is the national organisation which responds to emergency situations in Spain and has been active in and around Calasparra on several occasions over the last few years when there have been forest fires.
