THIRTY FIVE LITRES OF RAIN PER SQUARE METRE

Storms brought torrential rain, hailstones and a spectacular display mof thunder and lightening to Calasparra last evening.
As predicted the storms, which caused considerable material damage in the centre of the peninsular on Sunday, arrived on cue bringing some 35 litres of rain per square metre locally.
Intermittant hailstones mixed in  with the rain bounced off rooftops and the tops of cars but no material damage has been reported.
However, it is possible the hail has caused damage on local farms, including in the paddy fields. An assessment of any damage will be carried out today.
More storms and heavy showers are predicted for the next few days and temperatures are expected to fall by an average of 10 degrees by Saturday, according to the Met Office.
