The programme for the traditional fiestas of the Patron Saints of Calasparra was presented this morning, Friday, and here are the details:-
SUNDAY JULY 19
8pm Saints Church: Mass with the Rociero Amanecer Choir
8.30pm Opening Speech of the fiestas
FRIDAY JULY 24
9.30pm Cine Rosales: Charity Festival in aid of the local Disabled Association and the Rainbow Association. Organised by The Town Hall with the dance group, Espiga de Oro.
SATURDAY JULY 25
8.30pm Cine Rosales: XXVI Festival of Bands with the Assocation Band of Calasparra and the S.M.Cecilia Requena from Valencia.
SUNDAY JULY 26
11am Agricultural Procession in regional costume.
Itinerary: From the Rice Growers Fountain, Merced Square (Convento) Plaza de la Corredera, Calle Salzillo, Calle Vázquez, Calle de los Santos, Los Santos Square.
11.30am Floral Tributes, Mass with the Rondalla Choir.
12.30pm Election and declaration of the King and Queen of the Rice Fields 2015, children and adults.
12.40pm Kissing the Feet of the Saints Cermony
7.30pm Gran Prix in the Bull Ring for the “peñas” (local youth clubs):
MONDAY JULY 27
7.30pm Cine Rosales : Film – The Adventures of the Grimm Brothers.
TUESDAY JULY 28
9.45pm The Night of the Migas in the Calle Goya
Migas Competition, Throwing a grape and Throwing a grain of rice .
WEDNESDAY JULY 29
12 midday : Bell ringing and cohetes followed by a mass
7pm to 8.30pm Conference on Rice in the Casa de la Cultura
8.30pm Meet the Matadores in the Plaza de la Corredera
8.30pm Paella cooked over wood fires competition in Calle Madre Carmen del Niño Jesus
12midnight The Night of the Saints Talent Competition for Peñas with cash prizes and hosted by King Africa.
THURSDAY JULY 30
Day of the Saints
6.30pm (in the usual place) Sharing of the “paloma”.
7am Traditional Diana with the Band of Music through the streets.
8am Mass followed at 8.30pm by the procession celebrating the patron saints from the Saints Church, Calle de los Santos, Calle Vazquez, Calle Lavador, Calle Teniente Flomesta, Avda. Juan Ramón Jiménez, Plaza de la Corredera, Calle Salzillo, Calle Mayor, Calle Pastor Rubira, Calle de los Santos and back to the church.
At the end of the procession snacks will be offered.
12.30pm Taurean Discussion in the Casa de la Cultura.
7pm Bull fighting in the Bull Ring.
10pm Plaza de la Corredera Pasadobles Concert by the Band of Music
FRIDAY JULY 31
9pm Presentation of the September Rice Fiestas in the Bull Ring
