José Gabriel Martínez Gil, 29 years, from Calasparra, will continue his research into robotics and artificial muscles abroad and several universities have already expressed interest.
During his doctórate, at Cartagena, he has published 30 articles in global magazines, three chapters in books and has made 38 presentations to international congresses.
He has been involved in robotics research at Cartagena on the development of artificial muscles, which are both motor s and sensors, and which are controlled by a computer with simple software.
This invention is the result of the doctorate thesis written by José Gabriel Martínez Gil, and directed by Toribio Fernández Otero, who is in charge of the investigation group in electro-chemistry, materials and intelligent mechanisms.
These mechanisms have opened up a new area of investigation for the next 200 or 300 years, according to Toribio Fernández Otero, and are capable of emulating the functions of the human body.
