The complex, Hotel Cenajo, but now known as Ecocenajo, will open to the public this weekend and offers a “packet for two” of two nights full board for 240 euros.
Ecocenajo has two open air swimming pools, hotel and hostel facilities and a restaurant.
It offers a wide variety of activities and adventure sports, including canyoning, bungee jumping, canoeing and river descents in inflatable canoes for between eight to 15 euros.
After being closed for over six years a company was conceded permission to exploit the facilities at Cenajo by the owners, since the middle of the 20th century, the Segura Water Board.
After two years of renovations and an investment of almost 900,000 euros, some 22 of the 42 hotel rooms and 166 hostel places will be open to the public this weekend..
Francisco Sánchez, one of the partners in the consortium managing the complex, explains that by August all the rooms will be available and that, soon, there will be a spa offering body treatments.
According to Pedro Alberto Cruz, advisor to the consortium and ex Head of the regional Department of Tourism and Culture and profesor of Art at Murcia Universidad, “Each room has different decoration: modern, warm and light. The change of esthetics will impress our clients.
The complex aims to provide tourism as well as adventure sports and guests can relax in a comfortable environment.”
There will also be cultural and nature based activities in the gardens and in the pine woods around the hotel.
Gastronomy will also play a part in the future of the project with tastings and traditional cuisine.
More good news is that the complex has provided employment for 10 people: waiters, coks, cleaners, reception staff and monitors.
