The snow on the hills around Moratalla and Caravaca, which fell on Sunday and Monday, will melt away quickly as temperatures are expected to rise to 16 degrees, according to the Met Office.
The rain and and snow were the result of a strong weather front coming from the East but this has passed and, although it may freeze over night, daytime temperatures for the rest of January are expected to be above 15 degrees.
Yesterday snow ploughs were out on the RM-730 between Caravaca and the Puebla de Don Fadrique and on the RM-B23, which joins the RM-730 and Cañada de la Cruz, where three or four centimetres of snow fell.
