The Taibilla Water Board (La Mancomunidad de los Canales del Taibilla (MCT) has put a 14.5 million euro contract out to tender to install a central control system for 32 municipal areas in the Murcia Region including Calasparra.
The work, which is 80% funded by FEDER, must be completed in 12 months. The control centre will be in Cartagena.
The project includes the elimination of 84 installations which will become obsolete once the electronic system is installed.
Currently the Water Board controls a network of 11,000 kilometres, supplying 2.5 million customers.
