Work at the Puerto Cave to improve access for both tourists and potholers and parking for all types of vehicles is near completion, the Mayor of Calasparra, Jesus Navaroo has announced.
The work includes increasing the length of the visitors´ route from 300 to 700 metres and improving facilities for potholers as well as a tunnel for the new entrance for tourists.
The project, part of the Plan to Promote the Almadenes Canon to Tourists, also includes ample parking, including for coaches and other large vehicles; a visitors´centre; an electrical installation and drinking water.
The “sound system” in the cave is the only part of the project which remains to be completed.
