The good news is that for the coldest months when bottled gas is in the highest demand the price will remain at 17.5€ despite demands from the industry for a rise of 14%.
Based on the price of the raw material a bottle of gas should cost 20 euros from this month but the Government has fixed the commercial price until March 2014 when the 14% is likely to come into effect.
It is probable in March that the Government must decide whether to maintain the mechanism that fixes prices and gives compensation to operators for losses or liberalize the market for bottled gas and abolish the maximum price.
Currently bottled gas costs 29 euros in Portugal, 32 euros in France and 44 euros in Germany.
