A new measure proposed by the Government will permit Notaries to carry out weddings and divorces for a flat fee of 95 euros.
Currently getting married at the Registrary Office is free but the fees charged by Town Halls vary widely.
Also included in the proposed legislation is raising the age of marriage in Spain from 14 to 16 years old.
Divorces at the Notary will only be posible where there are no children of the marriage.
