If your European/Spanish driving licence needs renewing there is now a quick and easy service
available at the office in the Convent Square, on the left hand side of the old bakery, now a bar.
Thanks to a Nexonr reader I renewed my driving licence and am currently waiting for the new one to come through the post in the next month. If it doesn´t arrive in two months I have a phone number to call to chase it up.
According to the adminstration worker at the office this service is the only legal form of renewing your driving licence or making an application for a Spanish/European one.
You will need to take your old licence and payment for the fee (70 euros if your licence if still in force). She will take your photo and fill in the official form for you.
There is a short test: a sight test and a coordination test with a slightly old fashioned piece of equipment with buttons and levers.
When the paper work is completed and she has taken your photo she will issue you with a temporary permission to drive. Your application will then be forwarded to all the road traffic departments in Spain.
According to the adminstration worker applications for new licences or renewals should not be made through driving schools or any other unoffical office.
The Calasaprra office is open from 3.30pm to 8pm every Friday.
