A draft law which obliges mobile phone operators to remove the extra charges for using mobiles or the Interent abroad, known as roaming, will be approved at the EU this week.
The law is expected to be effective from July next year or within two a maximum of two years.
The law will also prohibit mobile phone companies from blocking services such as Skype and Whatasapp.
Despite strong opposition from the phone operators the EU wants to oblige them to offer basic tariffs covering at least 21 European countries without extra charges for “roaming.”
The new leigilsation, which must be approved by the Governments and the European Parliament, also prohibits operators charging clients for receiving calls when abroad.
