MOBILE COMPANIES FACE SANCTIONS FOR ABUSIVE CLAUSES IN CONTRACTS

The INC (National Institute of Consumers) is calling for mobile companies to withdraw abusive clauses from their pay- as- you- go contracts which permit them to retain money left on a phone or pone card; impose mínimum minutes of usage; and for periodic charges which are subtracted from money put on the phone.
The Ministry of Health has announced that it will sanction Vodafone, Orange and Yoigo for not eliminating these clauses and are considering action against another six companies.
The sanctions are based on a complaints against a mobile company in Valencia which failed to refund money left on a phone card after cancelling the service because it wasn´t being used.
