Infuriated by the opposition Partido Popular´s statement yesterday, Ricardo Garcia, Coordinator of the United Left and Greens, has slammed the offer to make him Mayor as “irresponsible, disrespectful to the democactic process” and “an attempt to fool” the people of Calasparra.
“It is totally incomrehensible that two weeks ago the representative for the United Left and Greens was “the worst thing posible for the PPand today they want him to be Mayor,” said Ricardo in a statement last night.
According to the IU (United Left and Greens) they understand that the statement from the PP is only aimed at putting pressure on the party´s representative at the Town Hall and to destabilise and create trouble instead of facing up to the important necessities of the residents. “The PP’s anxiety for power is very dangerous for our town.”
Apart from disrespecting the democratic process of a censor vote, which should be debated, the PP are attempting to “pull the wool over the eyes of the residents employing a type of politics aimed at fooling them,” continues Ricardo
According to the Corodinator of the IU the Party will continue its course to improve the political situation in the town and aims to get closer to the residents, using its political influence to demand that the municipal government acts to solve the problems of the people of Calasparra.
“We also believe that the Government team is not doing well and that we can take measures to ensure that they govern closer to the people but from our position as political opposition. In the next elections, if the voters give us more support, we can think about forming a municipal government. In the meantime our position will not change because this statement expresses what we believe is the best for Calasparra at this time.”
