The official unemployment figure for Calasparra fell from 1,377 to 1,267 in April.
The drop has been attributed to an increase in temporary contracts issued by the food processing industries and an increase in employment in agriculture.
The Mayor of Calasparra, Jesus Navarro, told Radio Calasparra that this was the “best data for some time” and “it proved that local agriculture in times of crisis was the motor for creating employment.”
