MAYOR ANNOUNCES CHEAPER SOCIAL SERVICE LIFELINE

The teleassistencia service, which provides a lifeline for 120 elderly or housebound residents of Calasparra, will cost 50% less thanks to a deal struck by the local Town Hall.
The service will now cost 11.96 euros, instead of over 20, after the Town Hall signed an agreement with the company, Personalia, part of the ONCE foundation.
In 2010 the service was provided free of charge to residents by the North West Murcia Social Services Department but its funding was cut by the regional government and the Town Hall was faced with taking over its management or losing it.
Anyone requiring the service can apply to the Social Services Department at the Town Hall.
