The Superior Tribunal of Justice has declared that the dismissal of 311 workers from the Conservas Fernandez canning plant, formerly known as La Diosa, in Calaspaara four years ago was illegal and invalid.
The decisión effectively renders the sacking of the workers in 2008 and the redundancy notices issued the following year as “without effect”.
A spokesperson for the workers told Radio Calsaparra that “now someone must take responsibility for the last four years’ salaries owed to the workers.”
The Tribunal found that the notices issued “were not in the interests of the workers and did not respect their employment rights.”
A meeting has been called between the 311 workers and the Employment Committee to try and resolve the situation.
