CALASPARRIAN FARMER ALLEGED THIEF OF LIVESTOCK

The Guardia Civil has identified a resident of Calasparra, who has a livestock farm, as a suspected culprit of numerous thefts of sheep and goats from different farms in surrounding municipal areas.
La Guardia Civil began an investigation to clear up various offences connected to the theft of livestock in the North West and Mula parts of the Murcia region. This investigation has terminated with the identification of a resident of Calasparra as the alleged author of thefts of up to 50 animals.
Specialists from the SEPRONA and ROCA teams of the Guardia Civil have carried out an exhaustive inspection of the suspect’s farm in Calasparra where some 50 sheep and goats, of dubious origin, were found.
Also discovered were the ears of the animals with their ear tags and electronic identification used to guarantee their identification and tracking.
The Guardia Civil found tools and utensils used for sacrificing and butchering animals which has led them to believe that animals were sacrificed and the remains of the dead animals used to feed other animals, such as dogs, kept on the premises.
All of the thefts were carried out at night from farms relatively close to the suspectś premises but outside Calasparra, using force to enter the farms, steal the animals and transport them.
Some of the animals, after their identification had been removed, were offered for sale illegally to other establishments or killed on the premises and the meat sold to the members of the public.
