The national police have launched a multi lingual telephone service to enable tourists to report crimes such as robberies, thefts and vehicle thefts.
Operators on the number, 902 102 112, will be able to accept crime reports in English, French, German and Italian.
Crimes which require the attendance of the police are excluded from this service.
Reports of crimes received by the telephone service must be confirmed and ratified within 48 hours at the nearest police station.
This service, which is exclusively for foreign tourists, will be available during August and September between 9am and 9pm and will be manned by the national police. The service in English is available seven days a week while the other languages will be available Monday to Friday.
