TREE BLOCKS THE ROAD TO SOCOVOS DURING YESTERDAY’S STORM

Yesterday Calasparra was hit by sporadic but violent storms yesterday and strong winds felled a mature tree temporarily blocking the road to Socovos from the roundabout of the Virgin de la Esperanza.
The road was quickly cleared and re-opened, however, in the interval traffic was forced to divert through Moratalla to reach the urbanisation of Canada Verde and Socovos.
Although the thunder rumbled away for most of the afternoon and early evening this storm was not as devastating as the previous one that caused so much damage in Calasparra. However, other places in the region, and specifically Jumilla and Mula, suffered considerable damage and flooding.
There will be some respite from the heat and the storms over the weekend according to AEMET, the Met Office.
Minimum temperatures on Saturday are likely to be around 21C and maximums around 32C with blue skies and winds of between 13 and 20kph.
On Sunday the weather will be similar , however, it may be cloudy during the afternoon.
No rain or storms are predicted.
