The wave of wildfires in Spain has already cost the lives of three people, the fires are still active and the President has declared a national Pre Emergency Situation.
Pedro Sanchez has warned that the situation is «grave» and has asked all residents to exercise «extreme precaution.»
There are various fires in Ourense, especially Chandrexa and Maceda, where more than 7,000 hectares have been ravaged by flames and in León and Zamora, where there are several active fires and more than 8,000 people have been evacuated from their homes.
The Government has activated a situation of Pre Emergency to order to improve coordination as during the last week 25,000 hectares across Spain have been devoured by fire, three people have died and dozens have been injured.
This is the 11th day of the latest heatwave and here in the Murcia region the risk of wildfires has been delared «extreme».
Readers are reminded that all fires, barbecues, work with equipment that may cause sparks, dropping litter or cigarette ends is totally banned and you are asked to ring 112 Emergency Services if you see any sign of smoke.
