If you thought it was hot batten down the hatches as the Met Office issues the first official warning this year for a heatwave in the Murcia region.
The Met Office (AEMET) has announced the first heatwave this summer will be this weekend as a mass of very hot air comes our way bringing temperatures in the early 40ś with minimums of 22 C.
Expect sizzling temperatures and tropical nights making air conditioning or fans indispensable in order to sleep.
Please take the normal precautions and stay out of the sun during the hottest periods of the day.
Avoid working outside or doing strenuous exercise outside from midday until 6 or 7pm when temperatures may be cooler.
Seek cool places and stay out of the sun
Wear cool, light clothing that allows your body to breathe.
Wear a hat, sunglasses and plenty of high intensity suncream if you go out.
Eat light meals.
Avoid alcohol and drink lots of water, even if you don´t feel thirsty.
In order to keep your house cool close windows, doors and blinds and use air conditioning or fans.
