While cleaning the oil spill on a fruit farm in Calasparra continues under the waTchful eye of the Town Hall, Repsol are investigating a possible manipulation of the pipeline to steal the product.
The company have informed the Town Hall that they have found a «manipulation of the infrastructure» by forces outside Repsol and the placing of a device to extract oil. The matter continues under investigation by the competent authoirties.
The owners of the farm in the Casas Colorados area of Calasparra reported the spill that affected several terraces of almond trees on Thursday morning. Repsol, responsible for the pipeline, immediately began work to limit the damage and remove the oil by sunction.
The Mayoress of Calasparra, Teresa Garcia, held a site meeting on Thursuday to assess the damage and has demanded an urgent meeting ith the regional Department of the Environment to coordinate measures to limit the damage.
Repsol has confirmed the clean-up will take several more days.
