In July 1947 Calasparra Town Hall approved the tendering process to build an inside market place «Sala de Abastos» in Calasparra and a group of houses for public servants $funcionarios».
Some 23 years later the Sala de Abastos, where many local people sold their own produce, mysteriously fell down. It is now a public car park.
Last year the houses for public servants were demolished to make way for the new Town Hall building.
